The star, <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/hilary-duff-swimsuit-instagram-post\/\">who previously starred<\/a> in <em>Younger<\/em>, plays Sophie who recalls to her kids how she met their father.<\/p>\n<p>The new Hulu series is a spin-off of <em>How I Met Your Mother<\/em>, which aired from 2005 to 2014. In addition to Duff, <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/and-just-like-that-weve-seen-hbo-maxs-sex-and-the-city-reboot\/\"><strong>Kim Cattrall<\/strong><\/a> plays future Sophie, and <strong>Chris Lowell<\/strong>, <strong>Francia Raisa<\/strong>, <strong>Tom Ainsley<\/strong>, <strong>Tien Tran<\/strong> and <strong>Suraj Sharma<\/strong> also appear in the comedy.<\/p>\n<p>According to the release, the series is &#8220;a story that catapults us back to the year 2022, where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/hilary-duff-matthew-koma-wedding\/\">what they want out of life<\/a>, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the trailer, Sophie talks to her friends about her failed Tinder dates. &#8220;Screw being mature! We can still make bad choices for a few more years!&#8221; she exclaims in the clip.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Today is the first chapter of my <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/watchlist-matrix-emily-in-paris\/\">next great love story<\/a>!&#8221; she declares later on.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the Disney Channel alum was thrilled when she first heard about the project.\u00a0&#8220;I mean, the script was so good,&#8221; Duff said. &#8220;I literally called and I was like, &#8216;Please, yes, please have them pick me.&#8217; I don&#8217;t want to give it all away and the script is definitely being changed a little bit. But it does tie in and, you know, hopefully we&#8217;ll have some fun guest appearances from the original cast.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_43974\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-43974\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-43974\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2021\/12\/MEGA806040_008.jpg?w=214\" alt=\"Hilary Duff How I Met Your Father\" width=\"410\" height=\"573\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-43974\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MEGA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ultimately, the series follows Sophie&#8217;s group of friends as they navigate dating in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are great characters and I&#8217;m going to get to have another on set family, <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/sex-and-the-city-natasha-and-just-like-that\/\">and another TV family<\/a>,&#8221; the actress explained. &#8220;And there&#8217;s so much opportunity for love stories with this show because it&#8217;s Sophie and then, three dudes. So it&#8217;s going down that whole rabbit hole of like, well, which one was the one, and who was the father? And you get to go through all of &#8230; Sophie&#8217;s young experience of finding love and dating and what that&#8217;s like in the modern world. So, it does tie in, but I don&#8217;t know how much I can say.
