If there’s one surprising style star of the year, it’s the exposed midriff. Be it via low-riding pants, precarious yet clever cut-outs or just super, super<\/em> cropped tops<\/a>, the mid-section of one’s torso has been out with a fashionable vengeance. The latter – the super, super crop top – has been perhaps the most touted style of them all, with a spate of stars getting their midriffs out.<\/p>\n

Dua Lipa has double-downed on the crop love in the last 24 hours, first celebrating her single “Break My Heart” going to Number 1 on US Top 40 radio with a flouncy cropped red shirt (in fact a still from the film clip), and then a crochet crop top in New York. Walking the streets of Manhattan hand-in-hand with boyfriend Anwar Hadid (we think), Lipa wandered the streets of Manhattan wearing a cappuccino-colored knitted crop with lace-up back and high-waisted denim flares, adding a kick of sixties swing to the style.<\/p>\n

While it seems crop top connoisseur, Bella Hadid<\/a>, had another run-in with the dryer; wearing a polo-collared cardigan-cum-corset while running errands. Molded like a bra and finishing just under<\/em> the breast bone, she paired the cream colored, er, top, with a pair of very low-riding khaki pants, leaving her entire abdominal area exposed.<\/p>\n

\nAnd of course, perennial patrons of le crop, Kendall Jenner<\/a> and Emily Ratajkowski<\/a>, who seemingly only own things in size: very short.<\/p>\n

A tricky trend at the best of times, should you be feeling a little apprehensive of its shrunken size and tummy-flaunting energy, the easiest way to style a crop top is with high-waisted anything. A jean is a sure thing, while a tailored pant with cinched waist is the ultimate in clever proportion play.<\/p>\n

And if you’re feeling brave, and indeed nostalgic, go low and long and show ’em what your mama gave ya.<\/p>\n
