As we prepare for the holiday season, and reflect on the year behind us\u2014see Spotify Wrapped,<\/a> end of year list and soon, Instagram’s Year In review\u2014Pantone<\/a> is already thinking about the year ahead. The leading authority in color theory and universal color language, just released the 2022 “Color of the Year”\u2014PANTONE\u00ae 17-3938, better known as “Very Peri.” For the first time in the 22-year history of Pantone\u2019s color of the year, the institute has\u00a0created a completely brand new color for the franchise, PANTONE\u00ae 17-3938 Very Peri. “Very Peri” sits within the blue color family, yet takes on undertones of violet-red, with Pantone citing “a\u00a0new Pantone Color whose courageous presence encourages personal inventiveness and creativity” as the colors’ description. Coming from this year’s duo Color of The Year, Ultimate Gray and Illuminating (a shade of yellow), 2022’s “Very Peri”, channels an optimistic year ahead\u2014summing up the moment we’re currently in.”Very Peri is a symbol of the global zeitgeist of the moment and the transition we are going through” says Pantone via their website. We guessed it earlier this month that shades of purple were owning the remainder of the year, so we guess you can call us psychic.<\/p>\n

Pantone is the leader in color theory, with color experts at the Pantone Color Institute searching the world over looking for new color influences that in turn influence trend forecasting across several industries. From Interior design, UIX design to of course fashion, we see the Color of The Year filter its way through boutiques, department stores, social media, everyday marketing and everything in between. This quarter, we’ve started to see pops of purples and blues permeate in culture (from Gaga’s purple Gucci look<\/a>, to Megan Fox in a cerulean set<\/a>) so it won’t be long before we see hints of “Very Peri” everywhere.<\/p>\n
