The world is your oyster when you’re one of the most popular supermodels in models in the world\u2014especially when it comes to fashion. Bella Hadid, for example, could borrow clothes from any brand she wanted, and with a reported net worth of $25 million could buy anything she couldn’t borrow. Which makes her off-duty style choices all the more compelling: what does the girl who could have anything she wanted actually choose to wear?<\/p>\n

The answer to that question has been surprisingly relatable of late, with Hadid opting for a rotation of pulled-from-the-thrift store ’90s era vintage tees during her many outings in New York City. Yesterday it was a hot pink tee emblazoned with the titular character of the animated ’90s sci-fi series\u00a0Aeon Flux\u00a0<\/em>(paired with a shrunken caridgan, low-rise wide-leg trousers and an oversized denim jacket).<\/p>\n

A week earlier it was a cropped Lauryn Hill band tee, also presumably from Hill’s ’90s heyday, with low-rise wide-leg jeans (are we noticing a pattern here?) and a silken yellow bomber jacket. Earlier in the month she wore a yellow Star Wars\u00a0<\/em>shirt (granted, this could technically be from the ’70s, but it’s more likely a nod to the disastrous prequel The Phantom Menace<\/em> which came out in ’99, when Hadid was five), which she wore with matching yellow sweatpants.<\/p>\n

Hadid’s off-duty aesthetic has always veered toward a late-90s early-00s redux, leaning heavily on iconic vintage pieces from that era. In 2019, she wore<\/a> a ’93 Vivienne Westwood printed corset that reportedly sells for more than $1,000, and she’s popularized key nineties and noughties handbag styles in the past, like the Fendi baguette and Louis Vuitton’s top-handle micro bags. In August, she shared photos of herself trawling through a vintage store<\/a>, presumably in Los Angeles (the city is notorious for great secondhand designer), from which she pulled a fantastic pair of ’90s-era Etro jeans.<\/p>\n
