In unexpected news for your Thursday afternoon, Shawn Mendes<\/a> and Camila Cabello<\/a> took to Instagram stories today to advise that they have split. On their respective accounts the singers wrote, “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever.”<\/p>\n

“We started out relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends,” the statement continued. “We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward.”<\/p>\n

The couple began dating in July 2019 following the release of their risqu\u00e9 music video “Se\u00f1orita” the month prior.<\/p>\n

The split comes after an anonymous DM on gossip social media account @deuxmoi, suggested the couple had split. “My fianc\u00e9 is on a place from MIA to LAX and sees Camila Cabello is sitting in business class with another girl, scrolling the movies and she asked the friend “what would you watch if you just went through a break up? Happy things or sad things?” The friend says happy first and then you can do sad,” the user sent. “Camila responds “yes, I do not want to start sobbing on this plane”. Is this a known break up? ”<\/p>\n

At the time it was dismissed as the couple were later seen kissing. Apparently, it was accurate.<\/p>\n

Cabello was previously linked with YouTube influencer Matthew Hussey. Mendes was rumored to have previously dated Hailey Bieber (then Baldwin). At the time “Treat You Better” star was forced to shut down rumors that he was gay.<\/p>\n

\u201cI noticed a lot of people were saying I gave them a \u2018gay vibe,\u2019\u201d he said in response to social media comments<\/a> back in 2018. \u201cFirst of all, I\u2019m not gay. Second of all, it shouldn\u2019t make a difference if I was or wasn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n
