Fashion trends repeating themselves isn’t necessarily groundbreaking \u2014 you’ve undoubtedly noticed the resurgence of Y2K fashion literally everywhere. Gen Z is obsessed with pulling from their parents’ wardrobe and obsessed with nostalgia and designers diving into the archives for inspiration, it’s only natural that some early aught trends will make a comeback. Referencing the iconic <\/span>The Devil Wears Prada\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/a>scene<\/a>, Take Andy Sachs (played by Anne Hathaway<\/a>) lumpy blue sweater, for instance. Thanks to Miranda Priestley<\/a>, we all know that that sweater is not just blue, it’s not turquoise. It’s not lapis. It’s actually cerulean.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The girl boss editor in chief also made us blithely aware that Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns in 2002, and then Yves Saint Laurent showed cerulean military jackets. Fifteen years later, after the movie first premiered, it seems that the color has made its way back into today’s hottest trends. During New York Fashion Week, I first spotted Megan Fox at the Moschino show wearing the vibrant hue, a color you could never forget after the lesson Priestly (err.. I mean Miranda) taught Andy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Then a couple of days later, our style icon was spotted out on date night with beau Machine Gun Kelly in another monochromatic top-and-trouser set that definitely wasn’t filtered down through the department stores and fished out of some bin \u2014 in fact, it was a matching set from it-girl brand Miaou new season. At the time, I immediately thought of the iconic scene (even cracking a joke to a fellow editor). Still, I didn’t think anything more than Megan Fox’s favorite color must be cerulean.<\/span><\/p>\n

It wasn’t until recently when Kim Kardashian stepped out in a pair of thing-high boots which leaned toward cerulean that I realized at this point, it couldn’t be just a coincidence. So as any good style reporter would do, I deep-dived to see if the color is in fact, back. The bold color choice has popped up in several designers, including Prabal Gurung, Acne Studios, Tom Ford, and Rodarte Spring-Summer 2022 collections.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cerulean makes perfect sense for a post-pandemic color trend. Coming out of dark times these past two years, the daring color is happy, fun, and eclectic. It represents all we missed out on and ready to jump back into \u2014 and perhaps a nod to the classic fashion film? We could only hope. Safe to say, Miranda would approve, and it’s time to add cerulean back into your
