If there was any lingering doubt as to whether or not New York is back, the return of the American Ballet Theatre’s Fall Gala is a clear sign. The glamorous event took place at the David H. Kock Theater at Lincoln Center on Tuesday, October 26th, ushering in the cultural institution’s return after a two-year hiatus. The event began with a tour of works by photographer Quil Lemons curated by Sarah Hoover before the start of the main event: first, an opening ballet by Lauren Lovette \u2014 a recently retired dancer-turned-choreographer\u2014 entitled La Follia Variations, <\/em>with costumes for the performance courtesy of designer Victor Glemaud. Next up was\u00a0choreographer Christopher Rudd’s interpretation of Touch\u00e9, <\/em>starring Calvin Royal III and Jo\u00e3o Menegussi.<\/p>\n

Guests were also treated to an except from Darren Grand Moultrie’s Indestructible Light <\/em>and ZigZag<\/em>, the final number of the evening. Choreographed by Jessica Lang and set to songs by Tony Bennett, the dancers donned outfits designed by Wes Gordon, creative director for Carolina Herrera, including mini polka dot tutus.<\/p>\n

Misty Copeland was on hand to address the star-studded crowd, whose guests included Diane Kruger, Brooke Shields, Tommy Dorfman, Olivia Palermo and Jordan Roth.<\/p>\n
