At the time, the color made a sole appearance in the form of a hard shell clutch towed by a model down the runway. While editors and fashion fans anticipated Lee’s approach to his first ready-to-wear collection, the merely exciting fresh colorway didn’t make too much fuss across the extensive collection.

Fast-forward to today, “Bottega Green” has become the primary signifier of the luxury house, the same way red has with Louboutin, robin blue for Tiffany & Co., and Orange for Hermes. In an interview with GRAZIA during New York Fashion Week, celebrity stylist Maeve Reilly proclaimed, “I’ve never seen a color that’s been so popular as this one has been this year.” Since its lone appearance on the runway, Lee has skillfully incorporated the distinct color in his runway collections, including his Salon 03 show in Detroit yesterday marking the first U.S. edition of the brand’s Salon series, with previous iterations in London and Berlin.

<div id="gallery-1" assignment. Aside from being an extremely attractive and showstopping color, the choice to continue to bring it back season after season is inherently genius on Lee’s part. He goes as far as not only incorporating it into the garments but the brand’s identity off the runway. Swapping packaging to the vibrant green and having subtle accents of the hue as pops of color in retail spaces globally.

In terms of the recent collection, “Bottega Green” wasn’t the only signature holding staying power with BV aficionados. Other signatures, including Bottega’s cult-favorite bags, have been revisited in a new way with industrial and mechanical inspired metal pieces. A standout was the signature Bottega Veneta Intrecciato pattern, which Lee reproduced in cloth. Footwear took on a new sporty innovative, and technical direction (perhaps a node to an active post-pandemic lifestyle?). Models walked in bold knit trainers and sling-back pointy pumps. Trainer technology is also translated into high heels that we can’t wait to see our favorite trainer wearing supermodel Hailey Bieber sporting come their release.

[17,16,95

Following the Detroit Presentation, it’s Clear “Bottega Green” is Here to Stay

<meta name="description" content="The first sight of "Bottega Green" was in creative director's Daniel Lee's debut show for Bottega Veneta's Fall-Winter 2019 collection.
