The five senses are all interconnected in some way and often tend to cross intersect. Taste is often linked to smell, eyesight to touch, and hearing to all the above. That’s exactly what the champagne house Krug, captured at their magical night of curated pairings, this past Tuesday. To celebrate the highly anticipated release of the house’s Krug<\/a> 2008 and Krug Grande Cuv\u00e9e 164th\u00a0Edition, they partnered with renowned composer and pianist Chloe Flower<\/a>, Chef Angie Mar<\/a> and modernist and curated furniture showroom, The Somerset House<\/a>\u2014accumulating in a beautiful sensorial quadfecta.<\/span><\/p>\n

Guest filled into National Sawdust, with its black tiled walls and brutalist concrete floors, greeted by attendants with flutes of Krug 2008. Guest like; Prabal Gurung, iconic music superstar\u00a0Babyface, activist & founder of Rise Amanda Nguyen, Philip Lim, Ezra Williams, and Sally Lapointe, that is. As guest took to the immersive theater, with its walls covered in projections of florals, champagne bubbles and the Krug family choteau, Chloe Flower took centerstage\u2014in a stunning, pink voluminous gown\u2014 for a special treat.\u00a0<\/span>With the Krug 2008 as inspiration, Flower created two original compositions, playing off\u00a0the connection between music and Champagne. The House of Krug has long sensed the link between sound and taste perception, and Flower’s compositions proved this theory, ever so gracefully. Guest, moved next-door to the gorgeous thoughtfully curated furniture gallery of\u00a0<\/span>fashion designer, Alan Eckstein, The Somerset House, for a delectable meal\u2014also inspired Krug 2008 creations\u2014by renowned chef and owner of Les Trois Chevaux,<\/em> Angie Mar. Krug 2008, Krug Grande Cuv\u00e9e 164th\u00a0Edition, and a stunning ros\u00e9<\/em> offering from the house, flowed as guest reveled in once again another sensory experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe way I approach composing parallels how Krug picks its grapes. Each sound has a critical and emotional responsibility. I play out each instrument separately,\u00a0violins, violas, horns, percussion,<\/i>\u00a0to finetune each voice and its individual role in the greater composition. It is very similar in process to creating a bottle of Krug, and I think that is what produces the best experience in both taste and sound”<\/span><\/h3>\n

Inspired by what they taste, these artists select or create a special playlist custom-tailored to reflect what they felt and how they connected to the experience of Krug Champagnes. From the stellar performance by Flowers, beautiful menu by Angie Mar, and the backdrop of Pierre Paulin sofas and Noguchi lamps at The Somerset House\u2014it’s evident that Krug’s<\/span>\u00a0“Echos” series, is truly something special.<\/p>\n
