Celebrity-backed footwear brand\u00a0<\/span>Allbirds<\/span><\/a>\u00a0has officially expanded into apparel, which means your wardrobe just got so much comfier<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you’re currently chillin’ in an Allbirds bralette<\/a> and underwear<\/a> wondering what I’m talking about, I mean\u00a0<\/span>actual<\/span><\/em>\u00a0clothes that you’d wear to leave the house.<\/span><\/p>\n

The sustainable, environmentally friendly company is well-known for its super comfortable shoes, loved by celebrities like Kristen Bell, Hilary Duff, and Blake Lively. But in the last year, it’s also launched the aforementioned bralettes, underwear, and socks. Similar to its popular shoes, these items feature the brand’s moisture-wicking and odor-reducing merino wool.<\/p>\n

The New Zealand-American footwear company started from, well, nothing. The brains behind the operation are former professional soccer player Tim Brown and engineer and renewables expert Joey Zwillinger. Allbirds began as a Kickstarter campaign<\/a> in 2014 and saw overwhelming success…fast. The brand raised $120,000 in just five days.<\/span><\/p>\n

The brand was officially born in March 2016 with its first product: the Wool Runner<\/a>. In the time since its launch four years ago, we’ve witnessed the San-Francisco-based company grow from a startup into a billion-dollar company.\u00a0Casual.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

So now, Allbirds has entered a brand-new chapter. Enter its long-awaited apparel collection featuring timeless, effortlessly cool styles. The introductory line consists of an innovative T-shirt (more on that in a second), a comfy-cozy wool sweater, a wool cardigan, and a perfect-for winter puffer jacket.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, the story behind that T-shirt is \u00fcber important because it’s brought to life using a new material that Allbirds calls “XO.” Not to be confused with hugs and kisses, XO is a naturally derived fiber made from discarded shells from marine life.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The fashion industry doesn’t need another T-shirt unless it’s better,” said Brown in an interview. He went on to note that the brand’s being extremely thoughtful about the items it produces. \u201cWe\u2019re focused on a handful of essential items that we want to drill down on. We sold just one shoe for the first year and a half of our existence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

As for the rest of the items, the wool cardi and sweater feature the brand’s famed superfine merino wool that’s sourced from New Zealand. And its puffer is a work of sustainable art that’s free of ingredients that are bad for the environment (unlike, er, most puffer jackets). The jacket is filled with Tencel and recycled polyester, which is an eco-friendly alternative to down.<\/p>\n
