Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made their first public appearance last week in Manhattan since the safe delivery of their second child. The Duchess of Sussex kicked off her sartorial tour of New York City in two chic looks<\/a>; an all-black ensemble and an appropriate LBD. On Saturday the pair joined the likes of Lizzo, Elton John and Billie Eilish for Global Citizen Live.<\/p>\n

The Royal wore a white Valentino mini shift dress, a Dior 30 Montaigne Bar Coat from the Spring\/Summer 2017 collection and a Dior ‘Lady D-Lite’ Bag in black embroidery. Perhaps unbeknown to many, Markle’s accessory of choice (which was customized with the initials of her title “DSOS”) was a nod to Harry’s late-mother, Princess Diana.<\/p>\n

According to the\u00a0Financial Times<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>Diana was first gifted the Dior bag in 1995 by French Prime Minister Jacques Chirac\u2019s wife Bernadette. She had worn it so often (including at the 1996 Met Gala) that the French fashion house named the design “Lady Dior” in her honor.<\/p>\n

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are also staying in Royal Suite at the Carlyle in NYC which was frequented by Princess Diana.<\/p>\n

The Royals attended the recent music festival in a call to arms to increase vaccination numbers across the globe. They also met with Mayor Bill de Blasio and his family to visit the 9\/11 memorial, attend a meeting with the US Ambassador to the UN and visit underprivileged children at an elementary school in Harlem.<\/p>\n

In August the pair released a joint statement<\/a> expressing their heartbreak for the current world events which included humanitarian disaster in Haiti, the Taliban invasion of Afghanistan and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we all feel the many layers of pain due to the situation in Afghanistan, we are left speechless. As we all watch the growing humanitarian disaster in Haiti, and the threat of it worsening after last weekend\u2019s earthquake, we are left heartbroken.
