(Photo by Frazer Harrison\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Cancel culture in recent years has seen prominent figures such as <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/winona-ryder-vanessa-paradis-defend-johnny-depp-wife-beater\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Johnny Depp<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/chrissy-teigen-trolling-cancel-club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chrissy Teigen<\/a> fall into some sort of irrelevant obscurity. In what started as a way to call out problematic behavior has evolved into merciless bullying. In an interview with the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/09\/26\/arts\/television\/the-morning-show-jennifer-aniston-reese-witherspoon.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Times<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/reese-witherspoon-hello-sunshine-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reese Witherspoon<\/a> discussed how the modern phenomenon should be approached.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe question is, how do we have more grace as human beings toward each other?\u201d Witherspoon said. \u201cWhat about people who are genuinely contrite, or who have committed forgivable offences? I don\u2019t think, as a society, we\u2019ve gotten there yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The actress appeared in the feature alongside costar and producer of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/jennifer-aniston-reese-witherspoon-morning-show-season-2-trailer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Morning Show,<\/em><\/a> Jennifer Aniston. We\u2019re asking a lot of tough questions about cancel culture, sexuality, race and the like. We\u2019re asking our characters to examine who they really are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At\u00a0<em>The Morning Show\u00a0<\/em>premiere in 2020, Witherspoon described how her and Aniston&#8217;s characters have a feminist vibe to them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur characters are two people with very similar goals but different ideologies because of their backgrounds,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/jennifer-aniston-and-reese-witherspoon-have-just-arrived-at-the-morning-shows-premiere-in-nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Witherspoon explained<\/a>. \u201cJen\u2019s character existed in a world that was dominated by men. Just the fact that she existed was all that mattered. My character is like, \u2018Hold on, no, no, no. If you\u2019re not bringing other women with you, what are you doing?\u2019 [The women are] not antagonistic or competitive. It\u2019s second-wave feminism meets fourth-wave feminism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Morning Show<\/em> is streaming now on Apple TV.
