Netflix debuted the trailer for <em>Britney vs Spears<\/em>, set to release on September 28, chronicling the conservatorship battle and Britney&#8217;s struggle for freedom. But it looks like Britney herself was not involved in any part of this film, nor does she approve of it.<\/p>\n<p>A source told <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/09\/22\/britney-spears-netflix-doc-done-without-her-blessing\/\" target=\"_blank\">Page Six<\/a> &#8220;This is another unauthorized documentary without her blessing or participation.&#8221; In February of this year, a FX\/New York Times documentary titled <em>Framing Britney Spears<\/em> debuted and we learned that Britney could not bring herself to watch it, due to the trauma inflicted by the conservatorship.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are parts of the film that were too hard and emotional for her to watch \u2014 the scenes that describe the most difficult times of her life, the relentless media circus and the harsh focus on her as a young mother,\u201d a source told Page SIx. &#8220;But, she feels, for the first time in many years, that people are on her side and things will get better for her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While the source claims that Britney did not give her blessing for this project, the director of <em>Britney vs Spears<\/em>, Erin Lee Carr, says that she tried to reach out to Britney on several different occasions, she told the <em>Los Angeles Times<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always hoped and dreamed and wished and prayed to the documentary gods,\u201d Carr said. \u201cI tried to contact her repeatedly. But I had to sit with the understanding that it was unlikely ever to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Carr said that she sent Britney a physical letter in the mail, and had \u201creason to believe that she was able to read it,\u201d but said, \u201cI think she\u2019s focusing on her new beau.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From here, filmmaking about Britney&#8217;s life and conservatorship becomes a moral dilemma. On the one hand, it gives light and exposure to her situation, but it also monetizes and putts her pain on a public platform.
