Just days after Britney Spears posted on Instagram celebrating her engagement to long-time boyfriend Sam Asghari<\/a>, the whole of her Instagram account seemed to go dark. Fans speculated that Instagram had shut down her account due to past postings racey pictures, or maybe had something to do with her conservatorship. It turns out, Spears herself is the one who made the decision to delete her Instagram.<\/p>\n

Reported by Page Six<\/a><\/em>, Spears\u2019 attorney, Mathew Rosengart, confirmed that the singer acted of her own accord in regards to the deleted account. An additional source told Page Six<\/em> that “She\u2019s happy and in a great place and silence can be a powerful thing and a powerful message. This was her decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

The source also added that the social media break is “in light of the successful path that she\u2019s been on and continues to be on [following] the news of [her engagement].\u201d<\/p>\n

And while yes we were looking forward to seeing more pictures of the newly engaged couple, or videos of Spears dancing, it’s quite a normal and a healthy thing for people to take social media breaks, celebrity or not. Especially after the year that she has had under the public eye, it’s no wonder anyone in a similar situation would do the same exact thing. Everything she posted was analyzed by fans and internet sleuths, as if there were some hidden messages or conspiracy theories in the content.<\/p>\n

Some people argued that Spears’ posts were “secret cries for help,” but her social media manager, Cassie Petrey, confirmed via her own Instagram that everything posted was at her own will and she had complete autonomy over her platform.<\/p>\n

\u201cBritney creates her own posts and writes her own captions for Instagram,\u201d Petrey\u00a0wrote. <\/a>\u201cShe finds the google images, Pinterest images, quotes, memes, and everything else herself. Nobody is suggesting any of that stuff to her.
