Met Gala co-chair Amanda Gorman has arrived on the red carpet looking like an angel dressed in royal blue Vera Wang.<\/p>\n

The poet’s outfit was full of meaningful details, like her diamond-studded laurel crown headpiece from Jennifer Behr (a historical honor for poets). Gorman also carried a book-shaped clutch inscribed with the words, ‘show me you’re tired.’ She explained this was a reference to the Statue of Liberty, where the monument displays the poem, The New Colossus<\/em> by Emma Lazarus. The iconic New York landmark also holds a book in its hand. A fitting homage to this year’s theme, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”.<\/p>\n

Outside of the blue gown, Gorman also showed off an intricate beauty look, with tiny crystals stuck in formation across her face, plus a larger diamant\u00e9 in the inner corner of her eyes. Paired with luminous skin and a thick braid heavy with even more sparkle, Gorman looked incredible for her first-ever MET Gala appearance, and with just the right balance of glamour and context, given the American theme.<\/p>\n
