Scrolling through my Instagram feed, I couldn\u2019t help but wonder: How<\/em> is face time with Sarah Jessica Parker so accessible to the regular person these days? How<\/em> is it possible to simply walk into a store and have SJP herself fit you with a pair of satin pumps with rhinestones accents? How<\/em> is it possible to order a bedazzled flat online and the actress rock up at your West Village apartment to deliver it to you in person that afternoon like it ain\u2019t no thing?<\/p>\n

Well, such is your life, New Yorkers.<\/p>\n

Yes, COVID-19 still has you on a hair-trigger. You have said goodbye to some of your best restaurants (Uncle Boons<\/a>, An Choi<\/a> \u2013 the list goes on). You\u2019ve tried to block out the hum of a million air-conditioning units while you work from your tiny apartment. You\u2019ve tried to un-see the fake plants at restaurants which are trying to pose as chic European hideouts but actually are just chairs and tables set up on blocked-off roadways.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve tried to enjoy an iced matcha during the swelter of August only for a weird tropical storm to ruin your drink and your jet skiing plans which were to happen in front of Lady Liberty later that day. You miss the street\u2019s energy. You miss your friends. You miss the hustle and<\/em> the hassle. Gosh, you may even be the type of person who misses those subway soliloquies from the homeless. New York, when will you come back again?<\/p>\n

But if there\u2019s one thing I\u2019ve learnt about Gotham and 2020, it\u2019s that it\u2019s filled with silver linings. Today, Central Park is beautiful and green \u2013 and Carrie Bradshaw is roaming free somewhere up near 54th<\/sup> for you to have a real-life conversation with. She will have a mask on and you can\u2019t touch her but it\u2019s really her! (And she really will try to sell you a pair of fabulous shoes.)<\/p>\n

Parker, 55, is now operating as the chicest shoe saleslady we know. The Sex and the City<\/em> actress (whose character became famous for her love for Manolo Blahniks) has spent the last week working inside her 31 West 54th<\/sup> Street store,<\/a>\u00a0SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker. \u201cI\u2019m here to help\u2026 as are Kathy and Angela,\u201d Parker wrote on one of her Instagram posts last week, just like she\u2019s a regular American store clerk. \u201cI\u2019m headed downtown at 3pm and 4pm so can personally drop off any deliveries that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here Parker is \u2013 the multimillion dollar super famous actress \u2013 walking across to the West Village to \u201cdrop off a delivery to a customer.\u201d Apartment doors don\u2019t usually open to Sarah Jessica Parker and I can imagine during COVID, it\u2019s a “Why-didn\u2019t-I-put-a-bit-of-makeup-on-today” kind of moment when they do.<\/p>\n

It was a lovely day. So nice to be in the shop with our customers (safely, 6 feet apart and with a mask!) and to speak to all those who called the boutique with questions and orders. I\u2019m headed downtown to our customer in the West Village, dropping off her purchase. We will continue to offer same day Manhattan delivery, as well as offering virtual sales appointments for anyone who isn\u2019t in New York or may not yet feel safe visiting us in store.
