If there\u2019s one thing Netflix knows how to do well, it\u2019s get us absolutely, feverishly hooked on a period drama. Today, it was announced the streaming giant would be combining the best parts of two of its most beloved recent releases\u2014<\/span>The Crown<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Bridgerton<\/span><\/i>\u2014by adapting the famous D.H. Lawrence novel, <\/span>Lady Chatterley\u2019s Lover.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Lady Chatterley\u2019s Lover <\/i>centres around a noble woman\u2019s affair with a gamekeeper on her husband\u2019s estate. The book was extremely controversial when it was first published in Florence in 1928 due to its content and after some heavy editing, four years later, an expurgated version finally made it to England. But astonishingly, it took almost 30 years for the full text to be published overseas in the 1960s, after it was the subject of an obscenity trial over its for its provocative plot and use of ‘risqu\u00e9’ sexual references.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Basically, expect this show to be steamy with a capital S.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If that alone isn\u2019t enough to hook you in, Golden Globe winner Emma Corrin, who played Princess Diana in <\/span>The Crown<\/span><\/i>, is returning to Netflix as the lead role, playing yet another woman in a rocky marriage to a wealthy man.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

WHAT IS LADY CHATTERLEY’S LOVER ABOUT?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Lady Chatterley’s Lover<\/span><\/i> follows a woman named Constance Chatterley (Corrin) as she navigates her marriage to the wealthy landowner, Sir Clifford. Clifford is paralyzed from the waist down and spends a majority of his time reading, ignoring his wife, and obsessing over their estate.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the relationship dissolves, Chatterley falls for their estates’ handsome gamekeeper, Oliver Mellors. The two embark on a love affair that tests Chatterley’s alliances and morality, leaving her to grapple with her own privilege and the decision of whether to leave her husband for true love or remain in a broken marriage for money, power and class.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

WHO\u2019S BEEN CAST IN LADY CHATTERLEY’S LOVER?<\/span><\/h2>\n

So far, we only know that Corrin will play Lady Chatterley. Former Skins actor Jack O\u2019Connell, and rising-star Matthew Duckett have also joined the cast, but their roles have not been disclosed.<\/span><\/p>\n

WHEN WILL LADY CHATTERLEY’S LOVER BE RELEASED?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Netflix has not begun production yet. However, the platform did <\/span>announce<\/span><\/a> \u201cprincipal photography\u201d for the series is beginning in the next few months.
