It’s the Venice Film Festival<\/a>, and the red carpet as we remember it has well and truly returned. With awkward Zoom ceremonies (hopefully) a thing of the past, the celebrity attendees were free to once again enjoy the more frivolous \u2013 and arguably, most enjoyable \u2013 aspects of such events, like the fashion and beauty statements that we’ve so missed over the last few years. And this year, Barbara Palvin<\/a> has kicked things off with one seriously striking look.<\/p>\n

Wearing a stunning ebony floor-length gown with crystal detailing, the model presented what is perhaps one of the more inspired beauty looks of the year. Minimal accessories (bar a pair of dazzling black and silver earrings) allowed all the focus to fall on her hair and makeup, which was sleek and simple enough to look polished, yet contained several\u00a0 playful elements that were (initially) inconspicuous.<\/p>\n

From the front, Palvin’s look is elegant and soft \u2013 winged liner, a slick up-do \u2013 but from the side, we’re treated to a dose of high drama. The winged liner, as created by makeup artist Charlotte Prevel for Armani Beauty, is revealed to have an extended wing that connects to a solid smokey chocolate shadow that runs along the crease \u2013 resulting in a sculpted lid with just the right amount of negative space and inky lashes. The makeup look was rounded out with a peachy complexion, a satin nude lip and groomed arches.<\/p>\n

Then there was the statement slicked-back ‘bow bun’ hair, a true masterpiece from hairstylist Owen Gould. Palvin’s hair was pulled firmly away from her face and back into a loosely tucked bun, before being secured with a pearl band. Gould then split the bun in half at the back by plaiting a section through the middle, tucking it underneath the rest of the bun and leaving some sections loose at the ends.<\/p>\n
