Shortly after\u00a0<\/span>stepping down from\u00a0<\/span>Jeopardy!\u00a0<\/span><\/em>as host<\/span><\/a>, Mike Richards is now immediately exiting his job as the executive producer of the long-running syndicated trivia show.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Sony announced that Mike Richards would be stepping down from his role, a finale to the show’s uncharacteristic whirlwind. \u201cWe had hoped that when Mike stepped down from the host position at \u2018Jeopardy!\u2019 it would have minimized the disruption and internal difficulties we have all experienced these last few weeks,\u201d Sony executive Suzanne Prete wrote in a memo obtained by <\/span>New York Times<\/span><\/em><\/a>. \u201cThat clearly has not happened.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

When Richards was first tapped for the show, alongside\u00a0<\/span>The Big Bang Theory\u00a0<\/span><\/em>actress Mayim Bialik, fans of the show called the announcement as an example of corporate favoritism. Dozens of talented celebrities cycled through tryouts \u2014 including the <\/span>internet’s frontrunner LeVar Burton<\/span><\/a>. In the end, Sony selected Richards to succeed Alex Trebek’s legacy, citing “tremendous amount of work and deliberation” went into the long-awaited decision.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just two weeks ago, Richards left his position as host after his alarming past came to light in a report published on\u00a0<\/span>The Ringer<\/span><\/em><\/a>. The piece reviewed his comedy podcast \u201cThe Randumb Show\u201d that he hosted from 2013 and 2014 and according to the findings, Richards repeatedly made offensive comments with sexist language.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The recent report was yet another substantial portion of the swelling criticism from avid fans of the show. In his former time as EP at\u00a0<\/span>The Price Is Right,<\/span><\/em>\u00a0Richards was involved in a lawsuit where the show\u2019s models alleged that he discriminated against them for being pregnant. In a memo obtained by\u00a0<\/span>Deadline<\/span><\/em><\/a>, Richards wrote to the\u00a0<\/span>Jeopardy!\u00a0<\/span><\/em>staff, \u201dI want you all to know that how my comments and actions have been characterized in these complaints does not reflect the reality of who I am or how we worked together on\u00a0<\/span>The Price is Right.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":29094,"featured_media":33350,"template":"","format":"standard","categories":[38,16],"yoast_head":"\nMike Richards Is Out of \u2018Jeopardy!\u2019 Completely -
