It’s really tempting to make a\u00a0Devil Wears Prada\u00a0<\/em>reference here, but these boots aren’t Chanel and Olivia Rodrigo isn’t Anne Hathaway. Yesterday in Brentwood, California, Rodrigo was seen making her rounds in a funky outfit akin to something you’d see in an extremely tasteful Claire’s boutique, with jewel toned animal print and plastic-beaded accessories included. But what really caught attention were the TikTok famous black Marc Jacobs calf-height boots with a soaring, chunky heel.<\/p>\n

The boots first made their appearance in Marc Jacob’s Fall 2017 collection, and ever since their debut, they’ve gone through an ebb and flow of popularity. But now that they made their re-appearance in select Marc Jacobs retail locations, they’ve become on trend for various TikTok style and fashion influencers. Some say the boots give them a visual appearance of a Bratz Doll, and while black seems to be the favorite, others are attracted to the brown variation.<\/p>\n

This isn’t the first time Rodrigo has gone stomping in Marc Jacobs, and probably isn’t the first time she’s taken queues from fashion TikTok, as she is one of the iconic faces of Gen Z. In June, Rodrigo was seen wearing knee-high platform boots also by Jacobs. That pair was released a year earlier, from the Marc Jacobs Fall 2016 collection, and you might have seen them famously worn by Lady Gaga.<\/p>\n

The tasteful clash between styles here helps build an image of what fashion looks like in 2021. Younger generations are starting to reclaim the famous\/infamous trends of the early aughts a l\u00e1 low rise jeans and sequined tops, but in a more tasteful sense. Given the exposure younger generations have to fashion trends of years past, due to platforms like TikTok and other social media sites, they are able to take those, critique them and give them another spin.<\/p>\n

So if you see Christina Aguilera out and about, be sure to thank her for her service, and for weirdly enough, setting trends that were once seen as the ultimate fashion faux pas.<\/p>\n
