You know what this sultry summer Friday calls for? A scorching new track from pop music dream team Elton John and Dua Lipa<\/a>. The duo unleashed their new collab \u201cCold Heart\u201d on the world today, and it\u2019s going to be playing on repeat until further notice.<\/p>\n

The song, which was first announced earlier this week, is something of a dance floor chimera, fusing elements of four different Elton John<\/a> classics: “Kiss The Bride” (originally from 1983 album Too Low For Zero<\/em>), “Rocketman” (from 1972\u2019s\u00a0Honky Chateau<\/em>), “Where\u2019s the Shoorah?” (from 1976 double album\u00a0Blue Moves<\/em>) and “Sacrifice” (from 1989\u2019s\u00a0Healing Hands<\/em>). Lipa and John worked together on the track remotely, with Australian electronic band PNAU piecing the various components together.<\/p>\n

And along with the track comes a gorgeous animated video featuring anime style versions of Lipa and John alongside four adorable stop-motion puppets.<\/p>\n

\u201cCold Heart\u201d is Lipa and John\u2019s first single together, but their friendship<\/a> has blossomed<\/a> over the past year in various states of lockdown and isolation. \u201cThe last 18 months have been hard,\u201d John said in a statement, \u201cbut being off the road has meant that I\u2019ve actually had time to get back to my roots as a session player and collaborate with some wonderful artists. And having the opportunity to spend time with Dua, albeit remotely, has been incredible. She\u2019s given me so much energy. She\u2019s a truly wonderful artist, and person, absolutely bursting with creativity and ideas. The energy she brought to \u2018Cold Heart\u2019 just blew my mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEver since we first \u2018met\u2019 online, we totally clicked,\u201d Lipa adds. \u201cElton is such an inspirational artist and also has the naughtiest sense of humour\u2014a perfect combination.\u201d<\/p>\n

Music isn\u2019t the only area in which the two see eye to eye. Last month, they were among the most vocal celebrities<\/a> to denounce DaBaby<\/a> for spreading misinformation about HIV\/AIDS along with homophobic comments onstage at Rolling Loud.<\/p>\n
