While Lizzo<\/a> might serve as everyone’s inspiration when it comes to self-love, the singer recently revealed that her infectious confidence wasn’t always inherent. During press to promote her involvement with Dove’s Self-Esteem Project, Lizzo admitted that she’s been on a journey when it comes to her hair, as she struggled to accept her naturally textured locks growing up.<\/p>\n

“There were plenty of times where I was almost embarrassed to show my natural hair because people were like, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s not cute. It\u2019s not good enough, or it\u2019s not silky enough,\u2019” the star said in an interview<\/a>, before revealing that she had only just begun to overcome those childhood doubts.<\/p>\n

“I actually just recently started getting into my hair-love journey, maybe two or three years ago. Before then, that was my final frontier in loving myself, was loving my hair.”<\/p>\n
