The silk scarf is an accessory almost as old as time — representing exceptional savoir-faire and a timeless allure. Dior has pioneered the trend throughout the decades, adapting its classic style to modern-day women. Most recently, the French fashion house presents silk scarves as a standout accessory in its Fall\/Winter 2021 collection. Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri challenged the trend by adapting classic Dior prints in new fashionable and versatile ways.<\/p>\n

The intricate designs are no easy feat to accomplish, and now Dior is giving us a behind-the-scenes look at exactly what it takes to produce one of their iconic silk scarves. Heritage codes meet a blend of artisanal and state-of-the-art techniques in the almost one-minute video documenting the process behind the “Toile de Jouy” scarves.<\/p>\n

The process starts within the Dior Atelier, where illustrations of lush flora and wild animals are delicately hand-drawn by Dior’s textile team. Next, the prints move onto a hi-tech screen printing process, produced in a radiant palette, ranging from navy, burgundy, and chartreuse. Keeping to the legacy of the house’s meticulous attention to detail, each scarf is cut by hand and rolled at the edges in the atelier before being sent out.<\/p>\n

Like most nostalgic trends today, we can thank TikTok for the revival of silk scarfs for Gen-Zers. You’ve undoubtedly witnessed the viral trend of users wearing a silk scarf as headscarves<\/a>, tied around their neck, and with a pair of sunglasses blasting to Mike Posner’s “Please Don’t Go.” Additionally, stars like Rihanna, Dua Lipa<\/a>, Bella Hadid, and more have been spotted donning the accessory around their head<\/a> and as halter tops (so early 2000’s<\/a>.)<\/p>\n
