When Nicola Glass joined Kate Spade New York in 2018, she was tasked with reinventing the house\u2019s Manhattan-centric aesthetic. Having cut her teeth in the accessories arena at Michael Kors and Gucci, Glass\u2019 first move at Kate Spade was dreaming up a more youthful iteration of the Spade Heart, one with the millennial zeitgeist in mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw a lot of opportunity to evolve the collection, while maintaining the brand\u2019s strong DNA and personality,\u201d says Glass. \u201cSo many brands look for a symbol to define themselves, and Kate Spade has one of the strongest: the Spade. I began working on all types of treatments to cleverly integrate the Spade into colorful patterns and playful embellishments, as well as functional closures.\u201d (See: The Nicola handbag\u2019s Spade-Heart clasp which twists to lock.<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Every season, the Spade and its many iterations is used across the ready-to-wear, accessories and shoe collections. As mentioned above, you may see the Spade as part of the hardware on a handbag or adorning a gold fringe pump. But Glass\u2019 favorite is by far the Spade Flower, created by joining four spades into a motif which is then used repeatedly to produce a unique, floral pattern.<\/p>\n

Enter, this season\u2019s Spade Flower Jacquard collection \u2013 one of the most exciting lines this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited to showcase this pattern in a new and exciting way for the Fall season with our Spade Flower Jacquard Collection,\u201d says Glass. \u201cThe Spade Flower grounds the whole group \u2013 allowing additional colorful and distinctive design details, such as fruit motifs and racing stripes, to pop against the practical, stylish silhouettes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The sophisticated (and very durable) collection sees canvas totes in different sizes (some with the stripe, some without) as well as a mini top handle bag. GRAZIA\u2019s pick? The round, drum logo cross-body bag which will no doubt be spotted inside those Manhattan-esque bars when they do indeed open again.<\/p>\n
