Attention all sneaker heads and hypebeast! Converse\u2014alongside Rick Owens<\/a>\u2014is launching a\u00a0refreshed take\u00a0on\u00a0the iconic Chuck Taylor silhouette,\u00a0crafted with a square-toe execution: The TURBODRK. The\u00a0TURBODRK is a reinterpretation of the Chuck 70, as\u00a0<\/span><\/span>re-imagined through the lens of one of fashions great disrupters,\u00a0iconoclast Rick Owens.\u00a0<\/span>The TURBODARK Chuck 70 follows Owens’ practice of contortion of\u00a0cultural signifiers. His choices bend and reshape the shoe \u2014 extending the tongue and\u00a0squaring-off the toe, the first time the famed Converse has presented in this execution\u00a0in\u00a0its century of existence.”When I see something ubiquitous, I feel like I want to distort it. I don\u2019t know what that\u2019s about. Maybe it\u2019s some kind of adolescent rage. But that\u2019s one of the greatest appeals of the Chuck Taylor All Star,”\u00a0says Owens. This is a Converse collaboration done in a distinctively Rick Owens fashion, from the exaggerated square toe, to the\u00a0black and white color-ways that speak to Owens\u2019\u00a0stark universe of modernist minimalism, to\u00a0<\/span>the casting of Canadian conceptual couple and\u00a0multi-disciplinary brand, Fecal Matter<\/a>\u2014comprised of duo Steven Raj and Hannah Rose\u2014wearing their signature alien-esque makeup. “When I think of Converse, I think of the black and white Chuck Taylors and the punk rock generation. These have always been iconic pillars of my aesthetic,” says Owens. Wearing Chuck Taylors, you align yourself with a generation that was experimental. There is a confident dynamic to the subculture.”<\/h3>\n
