She was born the daughter of a laundry woman, which is why having a scent that was clean and fresh was so important to her. In 1920 Chanel found a perfumer by the name of Ernest Beaux who was willing to help her try and perfect this vision.<\/p>\n

Beaux came up with 10 sampling options for Chanel to pick from, numbers one through five and numbers 10 through 24 \u2014 her pick was number five. Chanel N\u00b05 was a made up of a combination of aldehydes, lemon, jasmine, rose, sandalwood and vanilla \u2014 among other scents \u2014 and became the world’s most iconic fragrance of the century. Chanel believed this newfound fragrance would represent the liberated spirit<\/a> of females that arose in the 1920s.<\/p>\n
