In a 13-and-a-half-minute long video posted to the singer\u2019s official YouTube channel, a very <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/halsey-pregnant-baby\/\">pregnant<\/a> Halsey wanders the <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/state-of-the-arts-whats-next-for-nycs-top-museums\/\">Metropolitan Museum of Art<\/a> dressed in a saffron colored cloak over a shimmering silver halter gown with a neckline that defies the word <em>plunging<\/em>. She pauses before paintings and relief sculptures depicting mothers and infants, including images of the Madonna and Child.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, she poses before a massive canvas draped in deep crimson fabric, pulling it away to reveal the album cover: a portrait of Halsey seated on a throne, a crown on her head, a baby on her lap and her left breast exposed.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"HALSEY UNVEILS ALBUM ARTWORK AT THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/H4uWjAJu0_8?start=1&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis cover image celebrates pregnant and postpartum bodies as something beautiful, to be admired,\u201d the singer, who is expecting her first child, wrote in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CRCFhAHt6J6\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram post<\/a>. She also revealed more details about the themes she\u2019s exploring in the new music. <em>If I Can\u2019t Have Love\u2026<\/em> is, she explains, a concept album about \u201cthe joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was very important to me that the cover art conveyed the sentiment of my journey over the past few months,\u201d the statement continues. \u201cThe dichotomy of the Madonna and the Whore. The idea that me as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and gift to my child are two concepts that can co-exist peacefully and powerfully. The <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/weeknd-grammys\/\">Grammy<\/a>&#8211; and <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/women-set-record-oscars\/\">Oscar<\/a>-winning producers\u2019 work on the album made headlines last week and hinted toward a darker, more intense sound from Halsey.
