\u201cWhat am I if I\u2019m not a good tennis player?\u201d Naomi Osaka<\/a> asks in the trailer for her new documentary. The three-part Netflix series directed by Academy Award nominee Garrett Bradley<\/a> (Time<\/em>) premieres on July 16 and follows the 23-year-old champ over the course of two years of training, traveling and competing. In the newly released trailer, we also see Osaka grappling with family, fame and injustice, as well as exploring her roots via her dual Japanese and Haitian heritage.<\/p>\n

“The series is about Naomi\u2019s journey, within a snapshot of her life,\u201d Bradley said in a press release, \u201cbut it\u2019s also about life\u2019s purpose, about personal worth, about the courage that it takes to allow one\u2019s personal values to inform their work and vice versa.\u201d<\/p>\n
