As the <em>New York Times <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/06\/30\/sports\/tennis\/wimbledon-grass-court-safety-serena-williams.html?action=click&amp;module=Well&amp;pgtype=Homepage&amp;section=Sports\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a>, both Sasnovich and Andy Murray have since called out the traditional grass court for being extremely slippery. Wimbledon is, notably, the only Grand Slam event still held on grass courts.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, All England Club, which hosts the Championships, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/lifestyle\/sports\/wimbledon-defends-slippery-courts-after-serena-injury-2021-06-30\/\" target=\"_blank\">defended<\/a> court conditions in a statement. \u201cEach grass court is checked by the Grand Slam Supervisors, Referee&#8217;s Office and Grounds team ahead of play commencing, and on both days of the Fortnight they have been happy with the conditions and cleared the courts for play,\u201d the statement read.
