He often discussed his sobriety and the issues that led up to it in his stand-up sets and interviews.<\/p>\n<p>In a 2019 interview, Mulaney revealed he began drinking at age 13. \u201cI drank for attention,\u201d he said. \u201cI was really outgoing, and then at 12, I wasn\u2019t. I didn\u2019t know how to act. And then I was drinking, and I was hilarious again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esquire.com\/entertainment\/tv\/a28900498\/john-mulaney-interview-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\">in an <em>Esquire<\/em> cover story<\/a>\u00a0that his drinking also prompted him to start using drugs. He says that while he never liked smoking pot, he \u201cloved\u201d cocaine and dabbled with prescription drugs.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Munn dated NFL player Aaron Rodgers, who is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">now engaged to Shailene Woodley<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, from 2014 to
