Phoebe Tonkin<\/a> has officially stamped her mark on Hollywood. Overnight it was announced that the darling of local television will star alongside fellow Australian Margot Robbie<\/a> as well as suite of A-list talent for Paramount’s ’20s drama, Babylon.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

According to\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>Tonkin will join Olivia Wilde, Spike Jonze and Tobey Maguire for the forthcoming film. The new talent joins a line up from a previously announced cast which features Robbie, Brad Pitt, Diego Calva, Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li, and Katherine Waterston. Other cast members also include Max Minghella, Samara Weaving, Lukas Haas, Flea, Rory Scovel, Eric Roberts, P.J. Byrne, and Damon Gupton.<\/p>\n

Babylon\u00a0<\/em>will be directed by Damien Chazelle the mastermind behind award-winning La La Land.\u00a0<\/em>Do we sense a new Oscar contender?<\/p>\n

According to THR,\u00a0<\/em>the film is set in the 1920’s “during the movie industry\u2019s transition from silent films to talkies, Babylon explores the rise and fall of multiple characters.” The project has been described as “The Great Gatsby\u00a0<\/em>on steroids”. Consider us fans.<\/p>\n

It is unclear at this time whether Wilde, Tonkin and Maguire will play historical or fictional characters. We’ll have to be patient for its release too which is slated to drop “limitedly” on December 25, 2022 before seeing a wider distribution from January 6, 2023. Stay tuned for further updates on production.<\/p>\n
