We all have bore witness to our fair share of Karens <\/em>either in the flesh or from the all-knowing Twitterverse<\/a>. Despite the trope being steadily reduced to a “Can I Speak To The Manager” <\/em>air of entitlement, at its best it is simply white women violently brandishing their privilege with law enforcement at people of color through frantic theatrics. We have SoHo Karen (Miya Ponsetto<\/a>) who attacked a Black teen after falsely accusing him of stealing her cellphone. Then there’s Central Park Karen<\/a> (Amy Cooper) who falsely reported to the police that a Black birdwatcher, who merely asked her to leash her dog, was threatening her.\u00a0 And the list, with its many renditions (BBQ Becky<\/a>, Permit Patty<\/a>, Golfcart Gail<\/a>, etc.), goes on. Now entering the count is BET’s forthcoming original film<\/a>, Karen,\u00a0<\/em>and the internet is unsurprisingly perturbed.<\/p>\n
