That single, austere piano note that indicates something <em>very serious<\/em> is going on? That\u2019s the very first thing you hear in the first official trailer for the second season of <em>The Morning Show<\/em>, so you know it\u2019s going to be wild.<\/p>\n<p>The new season of AppleTV+\u2019s original series about the sordid goings-on behind the scenes of a popular network morning show seems to pick up right where it left off, with that jaw-dropping cliffhanger. The show within the show has just been abruptly cut from the air after co-anchors Alex Levy (<a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/friends-reunion-salaries-two-million-dollars-each\/\">Jennifer Aniston<\/a>) and Bradley Jackson (<a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/reese-witherspoon-media-good-girl-britney-spears\/\">Reese Witherspoon<\/a>) exposed the culture of sexual misconduct at UBA, the fictional network that airs their show. Naturally, Season 2 will deal with the fallout.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Morning Show \u2014 Season 2 Teaser | Apple TV+\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Y7H6EtsaJW8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what we know from the trailer: Despite Bradley\u2019s insistence that they stick together in the wake of their bombshell, Alex is out at <em>The Morning Show<\/em>. UBA exec Cory Ellison (<a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/naomi-watts-and-billy-crudup-still-dating\/\">Billy Crudup<\/a>) is bent on getting her back, but with newly blonde Bradley taking the stage with Hasan Minhaj\u2019s Eric Nomani, that may not be in the cards. It also looks like Alex is in for a grilling from UBA news anchor Laura Peterson (Julianna Margulies). And of course, it looks like the show is still trying to thread the impossible needle of making Steve Carell\u2019s sexually abusive Mitch Kessler sympathetic somehow.<\/p>\n<p>With shots of New York\u2019s empty streets and people in masks, it also looks like the new season will address the pandemic. Just as <em>The Morning Show<\/em>\u2019s first season was upended by the #MeToo movement, forcing its creators to rethink the story they were going to tell in the wake of accusations of sexual assault against <em>Today Show<\/em> anchor Matt Lauer, Season 2 was put on hold due to the <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/coty-hand-sanitiser-covid-response\/\">COVID-19<\/a> restrictions last year. It\u2019ll be interesting to see how the soapy series handles that.
