June 11, 2021: <\/strong>In The Heights<\/em> is easily one of the most-hyped movies of the summer, and as a sort-of metaphor for how long fans have been waiting to see the movie, star Melissa Barrera arrived to the film’s premiere with an extra-long, mega-sleek ponytail<\/a> that grazed her hip. Okay, so maybe it’s not an intentional metaphor, but bare with me\u2014I’m obsessed.<\/p>\n

Barrera walked the gold carpet in stunning shimmering blue eyeshadow from Clinique<\/a>\u00a0 (she was recently named the brand’s Global Brand Ambassador) by makeup artist Talia Sparrow<\/a>. The look was perfectly topped off with a never-ending ponytail brought to life by hairstylist Clayton Hawkins<\/a>. The 1970s are a massive<\/em> trend right now, and this ponytail, per Hawkins, is inspired by the late disco nights at Studio 54. Iconic.<\/p>\n

To create the ponytail, Hawkins defined a center part, and then snatched her ponytail back at the nape of her neck\u2014likely using a clip in extension ponytail to create the length and style. He then used a strong finish hairspray from Bumble & Bumble<\/a> to smooth the hair and banish flyaways from the sleek style. “Pro tip: Gently use the actual can for the perfect finish,” he shared in an Instagram Reel<\/a>. As seen in the clip, he finished by spritzing her strands with dry oil spray, gently brushing it through with a wide paddle brush.<\/p>\n
