SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Last night’s Manning Cartell<\/a> show at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week<\/a> was a spectacular celebration of women, with bold colors contrasted against playful silhouettes to demonstrate the many shades of femininity. The loose, glam-rock hairstyles followed the same aesthetic, as Redken Australia hair director Diane Gorgievski can attest.<\/p>\n

“The inspiration for the look was Manning Cartell\u2019s story of strong women. Women who know themselves. Women who can go from day to night with confidence,” she explains. “Once I saw the collection I saw that this girl was fashion forward, she\u2019s paving her own way, she\u2019s confident. Our girl lives the lifestyle of going from morning into evening in the same rock city chic look. With the hair I wanted to create something that felt lived in, effortless but with impact, something you can take from work to out afterwards.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Redken Australia team began by prepping the hair with an application of Redken’s Shades EQ Gloss Conditioning Color<\/a> and rinsing with the brand’s\u00a0 Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo<\/a> and Conditioner<\/a>. On clean hair, the team then added Redken’s Guts 10<\/a> for grit and volume before diffusing the hair to create a loose “rock city chic” look, before using the fingers to mould the shape around the hairline with Redken Triple Take 32<\/a> hairspray.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

But the surprise of the evening came in the form of IRL songstress Delta Goodrem<\/a>, who continued the female empowerment theme with her rock’n’roll meets Elle Woods ensemble and tousled waves. The singer took to the runway to belt out her track \u201cThe Power\u201d for the finale, shaking her themed tresses as she went.<\/p>\n

“The brief for Delta\u2019s hair for her performance at the Manning Cartell AAFW show was a very lived in, rock\u2019n\u2019roll aesthetic. The dress she was wearing is super sexy so to complement the Manning Cartell look, we created a textured, sexy, cool-girl hair style that embodies exactly who Delta is,” explained Gorgievski.<\/p>\n

Get The Look<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. We prepped Delta\u2019s hair with Redken’s Guts 10<\/a> Volume Spray and Redken Fashion Waves 07<\/a>, diffusing the two products into her hair<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Following that, we did a mix of tong application through the back of the hair, doing a combo of horizontal sections and then we wrapped the hair ends<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. To frame her face, we did an S-bend in the front and top which created a rock and roll aesthetic<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. We then went through with the irons and used Redken Fashion Work 12<\/a> to straighten up all of the ends<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Then we went back through the roots with the irons to put a 90-degree angle on the roots to really lift them and give it that lived-in, lifted and textured look<\/span><\/li>\n
  6.
