Recently, Anna Faris revealed she felt her “hand was forced” in regard to her 2017 divorce from Chris Pratt<\/a>. Now, the actress is opening up about marriage in general, and the advice she\u2019d give to her and Pratt\u2019s eight-year-old son, Jack.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On the most recent episode of her podcast, <\/span>Anna Faris Is Unqualified<\/span><\/i>,<\/span><\/a> Faris spoke with author Glennon Doyle, opening up about her decision to initially get married at age 27 to actor Ben Indra, before later wedding Pratt.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Faris and Indra tied the knot in 2004, before breaking up four years later. One year later, in 2009, Faris married Pratt and the pair welcomed their now 8-year-old son Jack in August 2012. The actors later announced their shock separation in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Both times that I’ve gone through a divorce, I was surprised\u2014although I shouldn’t have been\u2014by the support of my family,” Faris told Doyle. “That people around me were so unfailingly supportive, kind, and I imagine that if I was feeling that way with already having a supportive family in place, I can’t imagine the pressure that we put on ourselves to please everybody around us. It’s almost like, how do we begin to think about what we want? How do we remove the context of everybody else?”<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking back at her own decisions, Faris told Doyle that she would advise her son not to get married at a young age. <\/span>“I don’t know if it’s too grumpy and cruel to say in a sense but if I could tell my 8-year-old son one thing that maybe he would stick to, I would really encourage him to not get married in his 20s,” she shared.<\/span><\/p>\n

Doyle replied that marrying before you’re 30 “should be illegal.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During a previous episode of her podcast, Faris opened up about what led to the end of her marriages. “My two other marriages were with actors and I don’t think we did a great job of eliminating competitiveness,” she told Gwyneth Paltrow in March. “Or at least I didn’t, being a proud person, and not wanting to reveal vulnerability.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Any hint of competitiveness and comparison, I didn’t handle that very well, I don’t think,” she explained. “And I hope I’ve grown from that.”<\/span><\/p>\n
