When Cody Simpson and Miley Cyrus started dating very soon after Cyrus announced her separation from then-husband Liam Hemsworth, the pair went from zero to 100, real quick<\/a>. There were tattoo dates, trips to visit Cyrus\u2019 family in Nashville, Tennessee, rumors they\u2019d moved in together, love songs released, and other reports (and Instagram accounts suggesting) they were starting a band. For all intents and purposes, they were the blueprint for the pandemic turbo relationship<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But less than a year later, in August 2020, the gushy Instagram posts had ceased and it appeared, quietly, so too had the pair\u2019s relationship.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the time, Cyrus confirmed the split on Instagram Stories, making a dig at magazine articles that claimed they had \u2018reliable sources.’\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cA year ago, almost to this exact date, the media tried to tell my story for me and control my narrative, and I\u2019m just not accepting that,” Cyrus began, referencing her split from Hemsworth. “So today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up. <\/span>It was confirmed by a \u2018reliable source\u2019 even though no one is reliable in a relationship, except the individuals who are participating in it.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“But right now, two halves can\u2019t make a whole and we\u2019re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be, like everybody else at this age, we\u2019re just deciding who we wanna be with our lives, what we wanna do with our lives. And so, don\u2019t make it some drama story if next week we\u2019re out hanging out or getting pizza. We\u2019ve been friends for 10 years and we\u2019re gonna continue to be friends,\u201d she wrote.<\/span><\/p>\n
