{"id":22805,"date":"2021-05-13T11:41:17","date_gmt":"2021-05-13T01:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=193330"},"modified":"2021-05-13T20:42:40","modified_gmt":"2021-05-13T20:42:40","slug":"aje-resort-2022","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/aje-resort-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Fashion For A New Aje"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_193375\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-193375\" style=\"width: 5085px\" class=\"wp-caption alignfull -width\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-193375 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/210511_aje_004-421.jpg\" alt=\"Aje\" width=\"5085\" height=\"7627\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-193375\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Dan Roberts<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: A welcome sense of patriotism filled the air on Tuesday as Australian designers <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/acronyms-authenticity-and-australian-fashion-a-word-with-ajes-edwina-forest\/\">Edwina Forest<\/a> and Adrian Norris of <a href=\"https:\/\/ajeworld.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aje<\/a> became the first in the world to present their Resort 2022 \u201cScent Of Summer&#8221; collection to a full audience.<\/p>\n<p>In a world still void of the hustle <em>and<\/em> hassle of a spectator-lined runway, the Lucky Country\u2019s fashion set reacquainted themselves with such a sartorial convention at The Calyx in the Royal Botanical Garden in Sydney, shoulder-to-shoulder, mask-free, and grateful. The collection, an opulent ode to a long summer escape \u2013 and a rhapsody of sorts to the bygone beauty of the 60s \u2013 saw Aje\u2019s heart-thumping signature silhouettes reimagined into 39 looks for the circular lemon runway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were inspired by capturing the mood and the feeling of summertime; experiencing summer as a metaphor, I suppose, more than being confined to a location or a seasonality,\u201d explained Forest backstage.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 750px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-22805-1\" width=\"750\" height=\"944\" poster=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Aje.jpg\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Aje_LR.mp4?_=1\" \/><\/video><\/div>\n<p>Cascading ruffles, balloon sleeves and cut-out blazers arrived in bursts of wild watermelon and citrus orange, while a new overblown floral print nodded to an olive and fuchsia palette. Hand-beading, the Aje-old way, made a comeback in a feminine white organza dress with hand ruched flowers and handkerchief hemline. \u201cWe returned to hand-beading but in a more sophisticated and grown-up way,\u201d says Forest. \u201cI guess in some senses, we returned to how we were doing things ten years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_193331\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-193331\" style=\"width: 5379px\" class=\"wp-caption alignfull -width\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-193331 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/210511_aje_004-243.jpg\" alt=\"Aje \" width=\"5379\" height=\"8068\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-193331\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Dan Roberts<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThings got bigger this season,\u201d she continued. \u201cWe\u2019ve always had a devotion toward artisanal detailing \u2013 the metal hardware is all hand-carved, for example \u2013 and this notion flowed onto the accessories as well. There are a lot of voluminous sleeves; we dropped some sleeves off one shoulder which felt new for us as well. Aje kept their head down and kept moving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t pivot per se with our designs [during 2020],\u201d says Norris. \u201cI think what we did was lean more into what we were really good at \u2013 and that was making incredibly unique and beautiful dresses that people want to wear, and are easy to wear. That\u2019s the biggest thing we realized: you don\u2019t have the luxury of creating things that people aren\u2019t actually going to wear. No one knows what an event looks like anymore, the idea is to give women an amazing piece and they can decide how they want to wear it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peruse Aje&#8217;s Resort 2022 collection below, as captured by Chester Lewis.
