Time for summer dressing has finally come, and like us, I’m sure you’re more than ready to trade in your trench coats for bathing suits and\u00a0<\/span>summer slides<\/span><\/a>. After a long winter and missing out last summer due to COVID-19 lockdown measures, you may need a little inspo in curating the perfect summer aesthetic. Thankfully H&M has partnered with womenswear brand Lemlem founded by Ethiopian supermodel and actress Liya Kebede to give us just that.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The collection comprises an impressive range of ready-to-wear, swimwear, jewelry, and bags. The artisan-driven collab features breezy lightweight fabrics that are easy to wear comfortably around the city streets and the much-needed vacations we’ve dreamed about since the start of quarantine. The Lemlem collaboration is filled with summery hues of blue, white, bright orange, soft pink, neon, and a hint of pale yellow, the perfect color story to wear as you enjoy the warmer weather.<\/p>\n

“I love that H&M has always been at the forefront of doing really cool collaborations. So for Lemlem, it’s really exciting to be part of that group of brands that they’ve collaborated with,” says Liya Kebede, founder and creative director of the brand. And of course, naturally, Kebede played a role in the creative process, modeling in the campaign alongside her daughter.<\/p>\n

Sustainability is a fundamental part of Lemlem’s ethos, and so, Kebe and H&M sourced eco-conscious materials, including organic linen, recycled polyester, and Tencel\u2122 Lyocell. The retailer teamed up with Kebede’s Ethiopian and Kenyan artisans to craft intricate hand-embroidery and breezy liberating silhouettes to bring the project to life. The result? Easy-to-wear looks to add to your summer wardrobe.<\/p>\n

If you’ve relentlessly tried to get your hands on an H&M designer collaboration before, you would know they often sell out instantly. Officially launching today, the Lemlem collab will be available in select stores and online while supplies last. As part of their partnership, the brand has also donated $100,000 to support the Lemlem Foundation, aiming to develop a pathway out of poverty for women artisans in Africa.<\/p>\n
