When the <\/span>Sex and the City<\/span><\/i><\/a> reboot was announced, many fans were wondering how the iconic show would pull it off<\/a> without one of its main characters\u2014Kim Cattrall, who plays Samantha Jones, opted out of the HBO Max revival\u2014in today\u2019s culture, where not many of the storylines in the original sitcom would fly<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As filming of <\/span>And Just Like That \u2026 <\/span><\/i>continues in New York City,<\/span> three new characters have been announced as joining Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte\u2019s (Kristen Davis) inner circle. The new additions to the fold will all reportedly be women of color, one of the ways the series is correcting its lack of diversity\u2014it <\/span>was previously reported<\/span><\/a> the show\u2019s writers and crew would also be more diverse.<\/span><\/p>\n

The actresses have not been announced yet, but <\/span>according to TV Line<\/span><\/a>, the characters will be central to the show\u2019s storyline.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Though Cattrall hasn\u2019t publicly commented on the show\u2019s reboot, in 2017 she said she was done with the Sex and the City<\/em> franchise, telling Piers Morgan, it\u2019s “Not for me. That was part of turning 60. That was a very clear moment of how many years do I have left and what do I want to do with it? What haven’t I done?”<\/span><\/p>\n

She added: “It’s a great part. I played it past the finish line and then some and I loved it and another actress should play it, maybe they could make it an African American Samantha Jones or a Hispanic Samantha Jones.” Of course, following her comments there were rumors of on-set bullying and a decades-long feud between Cattrall and Parker.<\/span><\/p>\n

For her part, Parker responded to Cattrall\u2019s absence on Instagram<\/a>. After one follower wrote: “They dislike each other,” on Parker\u2019s post about the reboot, the actress replied, “No, I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would. Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X.”<\/span><\/p>\n

When the second movie ended, Carrie was married to Mr. Big; however, the actor Chris Noth has confirmed he won\u2019t be starring in the reboot. John Corbett, who played Carrie\u2019s ex Aiden, however, <\/span>has confirmed <\/span><\/a>he will appear in the revival series for \u201cquite a few episodes,\u201d which means it\u2019s possible he\u2019ll now be Carrie\u2019s main love interest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Not much has been revealed about the plot for the upcoming series, other than that it will include 10 half-hour episodes which follows how the group of women have evolved from their 30s to their 50s.\u00a0 <\/span>And Just Like That \u2026<\/em> will air on HBO Max but no premiere date has yet been
