Insecure<\/a><\/span><\/em>\u00a0actress and producer Natasha Rothwell<\/a> has signed a multi-year overall deal with ABC Signature, according to\u00a0<\/span>Deadline<\/span><\/em><\/a>. Under the new deal, Rothwell\u2019s Big Hattie Productions will develop projects with Disney<\/a>\u00a0General Entertainment\u2019s BIPOC Creator Initiative, which is under the leadership of Freeform president Tara Duncan.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNatasha is the real deal triple threat. I\u2019ve been a fan of her writing for years and have loved watching her career blossom in front of and behind the camera,\u201d said Duncan in a statement with\u00a0<\/span>Deadline<\/span><\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s an honor to provide a platform for one of the best comedic talents in the business.\u201d The three-year deal is reportedly eight figures and Rothwell is \u201cbeyond grateful\u201d for her next chapter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The comedian says, \u201cIt was important to me to find a studio partner that would not only honor my vision and my voice as a storyteller, but also one that shared my hunger for stories that broaden the limited scope with which BIPOCs have traditionally been viewed \u2014 stories where our humanity isn\u2019t a plot point or up for debate but it\u2019s understood, celebrated and explored in new and interesting ways.\u201d She continues, \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m so thrilled to be partnering with ABC Signature, and to have the opportunity to tell thoughtful, nuanced stories that center marginalized voices \u2014 stories that dare to subvert expectations all under the banner of Big Hattie Productions. Before that, Rothwell wrote for<\/span>\u00a0Saturday Night Live<\/a><\/span><\/em>\u00a0and wrote and starred in the original sketch series\u00a0<\/span>Netflix Presents: The Characters<\/a>.<\/span><\/em> On Rothwell\u2019s impressive list of accomplishments, the actress is best known for her portrayal of \u201cKelli\u201d on Issa Rae\u2019s HBO hit\u00a0<\/span>Insecure<\/span><\/em>. The series regular has two NAACP Image Award nominations under her belt for her performance in the show. The actress also has written for\u00a0<\/span>Saturday Night Live<\/span><\/em> in the 2014-2015 season and starred in <\/span>Love, Simon<\/span><\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Like a Boss<\/span><\/em><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Wonder Woman 1984<\/span><\/em><\/a>. Although fans are dreading the final goodbye to Rothwell\u2019s character in the fifth and final season of\u00a0<\/span>Insecure<\/span><\/em>, the rising star is here to stay.
