The conservatorship battle of Britney Spears<\/a> took a new turn today as it was revealed the pop star would speak in court.<\/p>\n

“My client (Britney Spears) has requested a hearing at which she can address the court directly,” lawyer Samuel Ingham told the court on Tuesday (per ABC<\/a>)<\/em>. “My client has asked that it be done on an expedited basis.”<\/p>\n

The judge agreed and set the court hearing for June 23. It is unknown what matters Spears will address.<\/p>\n

The news arrives after Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, has turned the blame of the controversial conservatorship on the pop star’s mother, Lynne Spears. She is accused of having “exploited her daughter\u2019s pain and trauma for personal profit.”<\/p>\n

“She has not been involved in her daughter\u2019s conservatorship until very recently, and she is now raising objections to fees related to matters that she has no knowledge of,” his lawyers wrote in a court filing Monday obtained by USA TODAY<\/em><\/a>. “In doing so, she is causing undue delay and expense in the administration of the Conservatorship, and ironically, stirring up more unnecessary media attention.”<\/p>\n

Lynne reportedly submitted a court filing to the Los Angeles County Superior Court which asks her ex-husband’s law firm, Holland and Knight, to reimburse their daughter’s estate for several fees. It is argued these fees fund a “national media tour” used to “combat media coverage that cast Mr. Spears in a negative light.”<\/p>\n

Lynne and Jamie were married from 1976 to 2002.<\/p>\n

Questions are being raised in court this week over how Spears’ money has been spent in managing the estate. Jamie was appointed the conservator of the “Toxic” singer in 2008 after she was hospitalized for psychiatric treatment. It is believed that Jamie is now tightly controlling Spears and profiting off the conservatorship which sparked the New York Times <\/em>documentary, “Framing Britney Spears.” In February, Spears won a court battle<\/a> which sees her estate managed partly by Bessemer Trust Co.<\/p>\n

In response to the explosive and unauthorized documentary, Spears said she cried for weeks<\/a> following its global release.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been exposed my whole life performing in front of people,\u201d Spears continued. \u201cIt takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability cause I\u2019ve always been so judged\u2026 insulted\u2026 and embarrassed by the media\u2026 and I still am till this day! As the world keeps on turning and life goes on we still remain so fragile and sensitive as people!\u201d<\/p>\n
