April 27, 2021: <\/span><\/strong>Ready or not, Crocs are making a comeback. To be clear, they never went<\/span>\u00a0away<\/span><\/em> exactly, but as of recently, sales are skyrocketing. The footwear that naturally became a work-from-home staple for many bears no signs of slowing down, especially following Questlove’s decision to wear the fashionably controversial clogs to the <\/span>93rd Annual Academy Awards<\/span><\/a>. The musician didn’t don just any old pair; instead, he opted for unique, shiny gold ones that glistened like an Oscars statue. Paired with a timeless navy suit, the footwear undeniably stood out among the star-studded crowd.<\/span><\/p>\n We’re not exactly surprised these Midas-touched rubber clogs are capturing headlines. After all, we love seeing footwear earn the full spotlight of a red carpet look (i.e., Sarah Jessica Parker’s tartan thigh-high boots by Christian Louboutin, as seen at the 2013 Met Gala, or Lady Gaga’s raw meat boots at the 2010 MTV VMAs). It feels fair to say that Questlove prioritized comfort without sacrificing style\u2014an impressive feat after a year in lockdown. This look may even intentionally try to reflect the current times we’re in, like <\/span>Andra Day’s relatable decision to wear UGGs<\/a> to the Spring Place Oscars after party.<\/span><\/p>\n But back to the Crocs, which continue to make headlines two days after their red carpet debut. While fans scour the internet to purchase Questlove’s gold clogs (similar here<\/a>), the footwear company just reported “record sales in the first three months of the year,” per\u00a0<\/span>BBC<\/span><\/em><\/a>. The outlet adds: “Crocs’ chief executive, Andrew Rees, now expects sales for the full year to rise by as much as 50 percent, compared to an increase of up to 25 percent the company predicted in February.”<\/span><\/p>\n No matter what side of the Croc debate you’re on, there’s no denying they have a successful track record among celebrities, having collaborated with leading performers like Post Malone, Justin Bieber, and Bad Bunny (all of which sold out in minutes, I might add.) It also feels like yesterday that models walked down the Balenciaga Womenswear Spring-Summer 2018 collection wearing platform Crocs. I think it’s reasonable to say that Crocs will be continuing to make an appearance in our\u00a0<\/span>post-pandemic lives<\/span><\/a>. Will they get even more high-fashion treatment?
