This didn\u2019t stop her from providing a bit of levity before the \u2018In Memoriam\u2019 Oscar tributes. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Comedian, actor, and Oscars co-host, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/comedianlilrel\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lil\u2019 Rel Howery<\/a>, returned for a round of Best Original Song trivia with <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/andra-day-best-actress-golden-globes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Andra Day<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/winners-2021-oscars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Kaluuya<\/a> \u2014 who also grabbed the Best Supporting Actor award \u2014 and ended of course with Close (who would soon go viral).<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Glenn Close stole the show at the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Oscars?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">#Oscars<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dYeKMfqUW0\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/dYeKMfqUW0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; philip lewis (@Phil_Lewis_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Phil_Lewis_\/status\/1386516878961651712?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">April 26, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When asked by Howery, to play a game of name-that-tune, Close immediately identified oldies twerk jam <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FShE0VifCYs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cDa Butt,\u201d by Washington, DC, go-go band Experience Unlimited<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt was a classic song,\u201d the 74-year-old <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hillbilly Elegy<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> co-star recalls. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She went on to share some fun facts about the hit dance song, during which she noted that Academy Award-winning director Spike Lee featured the booty-bouncing classic in his 1988 film <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thrillist.com\/entertainment\/nation\/spike-lee-school-daze-challenges-racism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><em>School Daze<\/em><\/a> but was snubbed of an Oscar nomination.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Glenn Close, everyone! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Oscars?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">#Oscars<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/akwOxvRS6s\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/akwOxvRS6s<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; The Academy (@TheAcademy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheAcademy\/status\/1386512706404974592?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">April 26, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;Wait a second&#8230; I know, that&#8217;s &#8216;Da Butt!'&#8221; Close said. &#8220;&#8216;Da Butt&#8217; was a classic song by the great Washington, D.C., go-go band E.U. So, shout-outs to Sugar Bear and the whole backyard band&#8230; I remember this, so Spike Lee had it written for his brilliant movie, <em>School Daze<\/em>. And my friends at the Oscars, um, missed it, and it wasn&#8217;t nominated so it couldn&#8217;t have won which I think is just an *effin tragedy.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Howery after getting a full rundown of the hit song, teased Close asking if she knew how to do the dance, and well, she rose to the occasion.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Twitter went into a frenzy highlighting Close\u2019s performance of \u201cDa Butt\u201d was deserving of an Oscar itself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Glenn Close gave a history lesson, cussed the Oscars out for not nominating Da Butt and then did it.
