(Photo by Matt Petit\/A.M.P.A.S. via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The third feature film from Zhao, <em>Nomadland<\/em> actually features real nomads Linda May, Swankie, and Bob Wells, who more or less act as Fern\u2019s mentors and comrades in her exploration across America.<\/p>\n<p><em>Nomadland<\/em> and Zhao were tipped to win big tonight, after they took out Best Motion Picture in the Drama Category and Best Director at the <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/nomadland-golden-globes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2021 Golden Globes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Beijing-born 39-year-old <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/chloe-zhao-oscars-best-director\/\">Zhao also won Best Director<\/a> this evening, making her the second woman in history to do so.
