It seems as though Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just can’t catch a break.<\/p>\n

The royal couple has been hit with a barrage of criticism since announcing their decision to step back as senior royals, with people demanding they revoke their royal titles – they did – and repay the cost of the renovations on their home, Frogmore Cottage – they’re doing that too. But despite even the literal Queen of England<\/a> giving her blessing to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the heat hasn’t died down yet.<\/p>\n

Just yesterday, Thomas Markle did a tell-all interview, using the recent backlash against his daughter to win public opinion and make some quick cash – an added stress she no doubt really does not need right now – and now, more than 80,000 Canadians have signed an online petition demanding that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex front the bill for their own security while in the country.<\/p>\n

Per Page Six<\/em><\/a>, it took just six days for the petition, which comes from the Canadian Taxpayer Federation, to reach its 80k signatures and, once it hit that number, it was brought to the desk of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.<\/p>\n

The company’s federal director, Aaron Wudrick, said of the findings, \u201cCanadians are pleased to welcome the Duke and Duchess to Canada, but have made it crystal clear that taxpayers should not be forced to support them while they are living here. All Canadians wish them well as they realize their ambition of financial independence.\u201d<\/p>\n

In their initial announcement on January 8th, Prince Harry and Markle explained they would be s<\/a>tepping back from their senior royal status to split their time between the United Kingdom and North America, saying their goal is to be “financially independent.” Since then, a huge focus has been on who will cover the couple’s security costs – by the looks of things, not
