And just like that New York Fashion Week<\/a> is fun again. On Tuesday, March 13, Pyer Moss<\/a> announced it would return to the runway with its first showing following its <\/span>highly-acclaimed Collection 3<\/span><\/a> presentation at Kings Theatre in Flatbush, Brooklyn<\/a> in 2019. Designer Kerby Jean-Raymond will present Collection 4 the second week of September, per a press release.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jean-Raymond\u2019s last collection was the third and final installment of \u201cAmerican, Also,\u201d a three-part series exploring what it means to be Black in America. <\/span>Lesson One<\/span><\/a> was introduced February 2018, telling the untold stories of Black cowboys, <\/span>Lesson Two<\/span><\/a> explored \u201cWhat does a mundane Saturday look like when we\u2019re just left alone? What is Black leisure wear?\u201d The series concluded two years ago with Lesson Three, titled \u201cSister\u201d in Kings Theater in Brooklyn\u2019s Flatbush neighborhood and from the opening monologue that referenced <\/span>The People Could Fly<\/span><\/i><\/a>, a book of Black folklore my mother used to read to me when I was younger, to the 19 songs transcribed to sheet music so that the 75-person choir could fill the 3000-person theater with renditions of Anita Baker\u2019s \u201cSweet Love,\u201d Cardi B\u2019s \u201cMoney,\u201d Missy Elliott\u2019s \u201cSock It To Me,\u201d and Ton\u00e9x\u2019s \u201cMake Me Over Lord,\u201d the accomplishments of Black women were celebrated on a grand scale.<\/span><\/p>\n
