On Thursday, April 8, my usual daily scroll through Getty Images led me to photos of Lady Gaga wearing a white lace wedding dress. A few heart palpitations later, I realized that the images were from the set of Ridley Scott’s biographical crime film,\u00a0<\/span>House of Gucci<\/span><\/em><\/a>, which is currently filming in Rome and slated to hit theatres in November 2021. The singer-turned-actress plays Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci (played by Adam Driver), the former head of the luxury Italian fashion house. As true-crime aficionados already know, Reggiani hired a hitman to murder her ex-husband for one reason being that\u00a0<\/span>he ‘irritated’ her<\/span><\/a>. She spent 18 years in prison and was released in October 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n

Put in historical context, the images of Gaga are likely from the filming of Reggiani and Gucci’s wedding scene, which, in real life, took place in 1973. In the pics released on Thursday, April 8, she dons the aforementioned scallop-hemmed wedding gown paired with an elaborate veil and matching\u00a0<\/span>Manolo Blahnik Hangisi Crystal Buckle Pumps.<\/span><\/a> Just hours prior, on Wednesday, April 7, the star was photographed wearing yet another bridal number: a white lace midi dress teamed with a matching cape, a black belt with a gold buckle, and cream-colored pumps with navy blue trim. The actress was filmed in this same ensemble in Como, Italy, on March 17.<\/span><\/p>\n

This isn’t the first time fans were teased with photos from the\u00a0<\/span>House of Gucci\u00a0<\/span><\/em>set. In March 2021, Gaga posted a photo of her and Driver in the snowy Italian alps to her Instagram feed\u2014and the snap quickly went viral. The image showcases the stars in cozy turtleneck sweaters and accessories that might be straight from the Gucci archives. After all, Gucci president and chief executive officer Marco Bizzarri told\u00a0<\/span>Women’s Wear Daily\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/a>that he’s allowing the production “total creative freedom” since the Gucci family is no longer involved with the Kering-owned label. Moreover, he added that Gucci is lending the “house\u2019s historical archive for wardrobe and props.”<\/span><\/p>\n
