Such elusive pieces were given new life by <\/span>the Los Angeles-based circular fashion initiative Atelier & Repairs, which spent three months mending and re-imagining each item in a zero-waste process that employed no virgin fabrications. A large tear, for example, on a long-sleeved whipstitch Stella McCartney dress was repaired with rainbow hand stitching, while many other of the other donations (a Dries Van Noten button down; an Ulla Johnson dress-turned-tapestry; a Zero + Maria Cornejo off-the-shoulder number) were accented with scraps of unfinished vintage quilts.
