The\u00a0<em>Basic Instinct\u00a0<\/em>star has revealed she paid Leonardo DiCaprio from her own salary when filming <em>The Quick\u00a0and the<\/em>\u00a0<em>Dead.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Stone was a co-producer on the 1995 western film and auditioned a number of teenagers for the role but said DiCpario was the &#8220;only one who nailed the audition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In my opinion: he was the only one who came in and cried, begging his father to love him as he died in the scene,&#8221; Stone wrote in the memoir.<\/p>\n<p>The studio behind the film, TriStar Pictures, did not want to hire an &#8220;unknown.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Why an unknown, Sharon, why are you always shooting yourself in the foot?&#8221; the studio asked. &#8220;The studio said if I wanted him so much, I could pay him out of my own salary.
